TRNC Health Ministry clarifies those who qualifies for home isolation/quarantine

The TRNC Ministry of Health has issued a reminder on who qualifies for home-isolation, following an increase in applications in recent days.

A statement issued by the ministry earlier in the week said that home-isolation/quarantine conditions only applied to those individuals who want to return to their country from abroad or patients who have completed their medical treatment.

Those who can apply for home quarantine are seniors over the age of 75, families with children under the age of six, individuals suffering atherosclerotic heart disease or heart failure, patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy, cancer patients – those who have received chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the last six months, those who have had a minor operation in the last month or major surgery in the last three months, persons with physical or mental disabilities, people with neurodegenerative diseases, autism or psychiatric cases diagnosed in the last three months.

Other conditions include those living with a colostomy bag or a permanent urinary catheter, individuals with end-stage renal failure who need dialysis, organ and stem cell transplant patients or pregnant individuals.

The statement also reminded that individuals who fail to comply with the quarantine rules will be subject to heavy fines or imprisonment.
