TRNC plans to open up in the month of May

The TRNC plans to open up in the month of May.

Health Minister Ünal Üstel reminded those who are coming to the country of the conditions that need to be met within the framework of the quarantine tracking system and within the scope of the electronic monitoring bracelet.

He also added that in line with COVID-19 developments that will take place in the month of May, they hope to broaden expansions across the country.

Making a statement regarding the Quarantine Tracking System, Health Minister Üstel said that up until today 659 people have been approved to use the wristband application so far.

“The use of the electronic monitoring bracelet of 5 people has been terminated as 1 person became positive, 1 person left the island and 3 people were pilots. Since the wristband application started, there have been no violations of the rules, but in case of any violations, legal action will be initiated and fines will be given” said Üstel.

Reminding that those who are over 70 years of age, children under the age of 12, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses need to obtain the required documents from the Health Ministry prior to their arrival to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and once approved they will then need to download the mobile phone app “Guvende Kal” and make all the necessary payments, Üstel reminded that those who have chronic illnesses need to provide the necessary medical certificates when filling in their applications.

He also called on everyone who wants to return to the TRNC to apply for home quarantine a week before their travel date in order to overcome any problems that may arise, by sending an email to evkarantinasi@saglik.gov.ct.tr.

Only those who meet the criteria determined by the Ministry of Health will be able to benefit from the home quarantine program.
