Ramadan Bayram begins Thursday, Thursday and Friday declared public holiday in TRNC

Muslims in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, alongside Muslims all around the world, is set to celebrate the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, marking the end of 30 days of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

The three-day Eid al-Fitr or Ramadan Bayram in English will begin on Thursday morning with morning prayers.

This year’s Eid holiday will take place under the drawback of the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the latest decisions adopted by the TRNC Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases, families are advised to limit gatherings to nuclear or immediate family.

Luna parks, festival grounds or thematic parks will be closed as part of the restrictions.

Meanwhile, the police and municipalities are also taking precautionary measures so citizens can celebrate the holiday comfortably.
