Student kidnap girlfriend, to remain in prison for one month until trial

A man who forcibly put his girlfriend in a car and battered her out of jealousy was arrested and sent to prison pending trial.

The suspect identified as Mohammad Abd, was arrested on Tuesday, May, 11 in connection with the crimes of "Forced Abduction and Battering".

The suspect who is a student in the country committed the crime at about 3:00pm on Friday, April, 7, 2021 at Atatürk Street, in Gönyeli.

At the time of the incident, the woman was taken and abducted in a Mercedes branded vehicle.

Before the incident, police said the suspect and the victim were on a date at a restaurant at about 2:30pm when a verbal argument ensued due to jealousy. She then left the restaurant on foot which made him angry.

He got into his car, stopped in front of his girlfriend, came out of the car, hit her in the arm, forced her into the car against her wish and drove off.

The suspect released the woman 20 minutes later in Gönyeli.

He was identified and arrested on Tuesday, May, 11 following a complaint by the woman.

Further investigation revealed that he was warranted by the court for serious battering on March, 24, 2021 and has not renewed his student registration since 2020.

Judge Temay Sağer, who evaluated the testimony given in his presence, ordered the suspect to be sent to prison as an invalid detention for a period not exceeding 1 month.
