Student involved in accident caused a damage of 193, thousand TL

A student who was involved in a catastrophic accident in Lefkosa at the weekend reportedly caused a damaged of over 193, thousand TL.

The accident that devastated the neighborhood happened at about 3:20am on Saturday, June, 5 on Bolu Road, Küçük Kaymaklı, Lefkosa.

According to police report, the 26-year-old who was high on 50 mlg of alcohol was driving at an extreme speed when he lost control of the vehicle when at a street junction which made the vehicle to leave the road and hit a roadside lamppost first, then crashed onto a wall of a shop on the street before coming to a stop after hitting another parked car on the sidewalk and a tree next to it. 

Police said the suspect left the scene of the accident but was arrested few hours later following investigation carried out on the scene and taken to the hospital for treatment at his request.

Police said he was driving in a manner that pose a danger to the public.

Police said he shattered a wooden electric pole, damaged shops and a workplace and some of its belongings. Police said one of the shops in question had become inoperable.

While there was no damage to the curbstones, police said it paid 15,000 TL for the three electric poles, steel tension wires and overhead electrical wires belonging to KIB-TEK, 3000 TL for the workplace 29B, 4000 TL for the workplace no 29A, 8000 TL for the two Ficus trees. Police said there was an estimated damage of 5,000 TL to the concrete walls and wire fences surrounding an apartment number 27, 4,000 TL to the galvanized water lines, 4,000 TL to a pickup truck and 150,000 TL to another vehicle.

Police stated that the investigation was continuing and demanded that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
