Students ranked first among coronavirus cases in TRNC in a two-week data report

According to a two-week Surveillance Report of the TRNC Higher Committee of Infectious Diseases dated between June, 18 to July, 1, 2021, 'students' rank first among detected coronavirus cases.

The sources of transmission of the cases detected between 18 June and 1 July 2021 were determined as 12.5% ​​at home, 6.5% within the family, 12% at work, 17% in social environments, 51.6% from unknown sources, and 3.4% from abroad. The highest rate of distribution according to occupations was seen in Higher Education students with 141 cases.

From March 2020 to July 1, 2021, the total number of COVID-19 cases across the island was 8,157, while the total number of deaths was 35.

According to the information obtained from the two-week Surveillance Report by YENÄ°DEN, covering the dates between 18 June and 1 July, 118 thousand 440 tests were carried out during this period, and a total of 463 new cases, 384 of which were local, were officially recorded.

During this period, 15 of 463 cases were patients from abroad, and 64 of them became positive in quarantine.

On the aforementioned dates, a 57-year-old male patient also died.

There was a startling increase in the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 compared to last week, the number of cases doubled.

As of July 13, 2021, the total number of cases was announced as 784. The number of local cases, which was 384 by 1 July, increased by 275 to 659.

Kyrenia and Nicosia continued to be the regions with the highest number of cases for the last 3 weeks.

There was no change in the number of people who lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Age and gender distribution:
Higher mortality rate from COVID-19 in men

According to the general data announced in the period from March 2020, when COVID-19 started to spread in the country, to July 1, 2021, it was determined that the death rate from the virus was higher in men.

Considering the proportions of the case distribution according to gender and age, it was determined that the average age was 31 in women and 29 in men, a total of 30. The number of male cases with COVID-19 between June 18 and July 1, pointed out by the report, was announced as 248, while this figure was 215 for females.

The age range in which the COVID-19 virus was detected on the same dates was announced as 0 to 101 for women and 1 to 86 for men.

It was determined that the highest infection rate was seen in young people between the ages of 20-29. While the number of cases in men in this age range is 102, it is 95 in women.

On the other hand, the age range in which the disease was seen at its most extreme was 57 on average for women and 55 for men.

Distribution by districts:
Kyrenia Center ranks first with 109 cases

The distribution of the number of local cases, which was determined as 384 between June 18 and July 1, according to the districts was also made.

Accordingly, Kyrenia has the highest number of cases with 46.9 percent. The rate of Nicosia in the second place is 32.8 percent. On the other hand, Famagusta was announced with 14.3%, Güzelyurt and Lefke with 2.1 percent, and İskele with the lowest number of cases at 1.8 percent.

In terms of distribution within the district, the center of Kyrenia is almost half of the total number of local cases with 109 cases. In Nicosia, Gonyeli was announced as the region with the highest number of cases in the district with 25 positive patients.

On the other hand, the regions with the highest number of cases in other districts are as follows:

Famagusta center 10, Lefke center 4, Güzelyurt center Zümrütköy 4 and İskele center 3.

Nationality distribution:
The highest rate in local and international cases is in TRNC citizens.

Among the dates covered by the report, 53.1 percent of 448 local cases, including contacts, were TRNC citizens; 46.9 percent were declared as foreign nationals.

238 of the local cases are TRNC citizens.

Citizens of the Republic of the Congo are in the first place with 92 cases in foreign national cases. On the other hand, this figure was announced as 73 for Turkish citizens and 19 for Nigerian citizens.

The number of cases from abroad between 18.06.2021 and 01.07.2021 is 15, and the nationality distribution is as follows:

Source of contamination and occupational distributions:
The highest increase in cases was seen in university students.
