Foreign students will be vaccinated and new assessment to be made about red countries - TRNC Prime Minister

Foreign students coming to the TRNC will be vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines and new assessment will be made about red countries, TRNC Prime Minister has announced.

Prime Minister, Ersan Saner made the statement after his meeting with economic organizations on Tuesday. 

Saner stated that the decisions they made in the education sector and the residence conditions of the vaccinated or unvaccinated young people who will come to the country were evaluated in the Council of Ministers.

He said that they listened to the opinions of the Chamber of Commerce and the Hoteliers Association on the education and tourism sector.

Saner made the following statement:
-We stated that our will to reach 500 thousand Sinovac vaccines vaccination in both tourism and education has been achieved. 

-We shared that employees in both tourism and education sectors have been fully vaccinated and ready to serve.  

-We stated that all 3rd World country citizens who will come to the TRNC for higher education and eligible for vaccination will be vaccinated, and that 45 thousand doses of vaccine have been allocated for this purpose.  

-We stated that the students who will be vaccinated will continue their normal life (***At the moment, no one understands what this normal life mean), and those who come unvaccinated will remain in quarantine under the quarantine conditions determined by WHO.

-He stated that face-to-face education will start in September noting that they welcomed the request of universities to share the announcement to students who will come to the country and are planned to be vaccinated. 

-We made these decisions in the education sector and the rules on how the vaccinated or unvaccinated young people who will come to the country will reside in the country, at our Council of Ministers meeting yesterday (Monday, August, 23, 2021). 

-Our Minister of National Education and Culture explained in detail. Vaccinated students will continue without any problems. 

Saner said, “We said that the demand for increasing the number of flights for the arrival of students has already been met, but if there is a new demand for an increase in the number of flights, this can also be easily evaluated. Upon entering the country, I gave a directive to the Minister of Education regarding the students coming from the red countries. 

-Our Minister of Education will re-evaluate the red countries. This will be carefully considered. The ministry will make a new assessment about the red countries, he said.

-In tourism, every citizen of the world with a double vaccination will be able to visit the country. Only those arriving from countries known as the red country will be kept in quarantine.

-We informed the organizations that 80% of the passengers coming from Ercan were double-vaccinated. The proposal of the Hoteliers Association regarding the entry of single vaccinated passengers will be discussed at the Supreme Council.
