One of two men who stabbed and injured Turkish Cypriot police in Gazikoy arrested two weeks later

One of two men who stabbed and wounded a Turkish Cypriot police officer in Gaziköy two weeks ago has been caught while trying to flee to southern Cyprus.

The incident happened on Sunday, August, 15, 2021 in Gazikoy. Two police officers were on patrol when they approached two men who appeared to be attempting to steal a car. The men attacked one of the officers and fled the scene.

One of the suspects involved in the stabbing was later identified and arrested by the police in a house he was hiding in Akdoğan the next day.

The other suspect who was still at large was identified and arrested on Monday in the place where he was hiding after a joint operation with soldiers in Kırklar village.

Police said, Gökhan escaped to the Southern Cyprus after attempting to kill Fahri Toklu, the on duty Police Officer with a knife, on August, 15, 2021.

Drugs were also found in the car that Gökhan Teamcılar had left.
