Two foreigners nabbed at crossing point with south Cyprus for carrying fake Belgian and French ID

Two foreigners, a male and a female who were arrested in connection with forged official document issue in Lefkosa will remain in detention until trial.

They were caught and arrested on Sunday, August, 15 at Lokmacı crossing point with southern Cyprus for presenting a fake Belgian ID and a fake French ID to the immigration officer on duty to cross to the south.

They were taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday, August, 16 on charges of charges of obtaining false official documents, putting it in circulation and imposing the name of a person in the document.

Police said one of the suspect in question had an identity card belonging to Belgium made on his behalf and during the control, it was learned that he had been in the TRNC with a student permit after entering the country with a Congo passport on March, 30, 2019.

The other suspect was found to have entered with a 30-day visa on July, 5, 2019.

Police said that investigation on the matter has just begun and that the identity of the persons in question should be investigated, and in this context, they demanded that the suspects be kept in police custody for 3 days for investigation purposes.
