Anthony Joshua beaten by Usyk in an unanimous decision

Ukrainian, Oleksandr Usyk stunned Anthony Joshua on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in England to dethrone him as heavyweight world champion in an unanimous decision.

Usyk put on a masterclass in front of 65,000 fans outclassing Joshua over 12 rounds, and hurting the defending champion on numerous occasions

The victory shook up the heavyweight division as Usyk claimed three heavyweight title belts -- WBA, WBO and IBF.

All three judges scored the fight in Usyk’s favor, 117-112, 116-112, 115-113.

Having seen a fight with fellow Briton Tyson Fury collapse last summer, Joshua opted to face his WBO mandatory challenger and former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk instead.

Usyk, who improved to 19-0, moves into position for a possible showdown against the winner of the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder fight Oct. 9.

Joshua (25-2) suffered his second defeat in the past four fights, having lost to Andy Ruiz by TKO in 2019 before beating Ruiz by unanimous decision in their rematch later in the year and then knocking out Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria in 2020.
