Man in Lefkosa beat and rape wife for not buying bread for him

A man in Lefkosa has been charged to court for beating and raping his wife because she did not buy him bread.

According to report by local media, the incident happened at about 12:00pm on Sunday, September, 12 in Lefkosa.

The suspect identified only as K.Ö was arrested and brought before a court on the grounds that he first battered and then raped his wife because she 'did not buy him bread.'

Police sergeant who testified in court, stated that the suspect severely battered his wife, whom he was in the process of breaking up with, on the grounds that 'she did not buy him bread', and then raped her.

Police demanded that the suspect be kept in custody for 3 days, stating that the investigation initiated regarding the issue continues, that the statements should be confirmed, and that statements will be taken from the children in the house.

The suspect, who took the floor on the police testimony, said "I did it to save my home".
