Student assaults girlfriend because he though she was cheating on him

A university student in the island who suspected that his girlfriend was cheating on him has been arrested for assault.

The suspect identified only as B.G was arrested on Wednesday, September, 29 in Lefkosa for battering his girlfriend.

He was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Thursday, September, 30 on charges of battering and inflicting an injury on another.

Police officer who testified in court, stated that the suspect severely battered his lover identified only as D.B.Y by hitting various part of her body with his hands and also cut her arm with a glass cup in his house in Lefkosa at around 1:30am on Wednesday, September 29, on the grounds that he thought she was cheating on him.  

A doctors report was issued after the victim was checked by a doctor at the Lefkosa State Hospital. 

Police said they visited the crime scene and found pieces of broken glass which were taken as evidence. The suspect, a university student was arrested on the same day.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge ordered the suspect to be released on bail pending trial on the condition that he be banned from going abroad, report to the police station once a week, deposit 10 thousand TL in cash, and 2 guarantors to sign 50 thousand TL bail bonds.
