Mild earthquake in south Cyprus

A mild earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was experienced in Limassol, South Cyprus on Wednesday morning.

According to a statement issued by the Met Office’s Seismology Service, an earthquake of mild intensity measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, at a depth of approximately 5.6 km in Limassol, was recorded at 7.53am today, approximately 86 km from the Meteorology Department’s Seismograph Station at Alevkaya.

The epicenter of the seismic activity was in the south of the city. The earthquake was also felt in Paphos and Nicosia.

According to the Euro Mediterranean Institute which reported no significant damage or injuries.

The tremor lasted only a few seconds.
