Three international students detained for drug sale and use

Three foreigners are currently in police custody for taking and dealing in drugs.

The three suspects, two Zimbabweans and a Nigerian were both identified and arrested on on Saturday and taken to court on Sunday on charges of taking, giving and being in possession of illegal drugs.

According to police statement, a search was carried out on the first suspect after police noticed his suspicious movement at about 8:30pm on Uğur Mumcu Street in Kyrenia. A substance believed to be a Synthetic Cannabinoid type drug weighing approximately 200 milligrams was found in his possession. He was arrested for delinquency. 

During investigation, the suspect revealed to the police that the drugs in his possession were taken from a fellow which lead to the arrest of the second suspect in Lefkosa. Police said they found approximately 2 grams of a substance believed to be a Cannabis type drug in his possession. 

Investigation on suspect 2, revealed that he bought the drugs in his possession from two other fellow. One of the, the third suspect was arrested. 

They were ordered to remain in detention for 3 days for 3 days for investigation purposes.
