Driver involved in accident that killed a 36-year-old Nigerian woman to remain in detention for 45 days

A 28-year-old Nigerian who was arrested in connection with the fatal traffic accident that resulted in the death of a 36-year-old woman in Lefkosa on Sunday morning will remain in police detention for 45 days and his drivers license revoked. 

The 28-year-old was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Friday for the second time since the unfortunate incident. 

The accident happened at about 2:00am on Sunday, November, 7 on the Near East Boulevard in Lefkosa when the 28-year-old lost control of the steering at the corner of the road which caused the car to hit a curbstones on the road side, causing the car to roll over on it's roof. 

A 36-year-old woman, identified as Odion Maureen Paulina, a Nigerian who was a passenger in the vehicle died at the scene of the accident. Three other people including the driver of the vehicle were also injured in the accident. 

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge ordered that the suspect be held in prison for a period not exceeding 45 days, and that his driver's license be temporarily confiscated.
