EMU-SEN wants students in all univeristies to be vaccinated

The Eastern Mediterranean University Academic Personnel Union (EMU-SEN) has called for all university students in the island to be vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.

Expressing that it is watching the increase in Covid cases with concern, EMU-SEN emphasized that vaccination should be done widely in all higher education institutions in the country so that education can continue face-to-face.

In its written statement at the weekend, EMU-SEN pointed out that students had previously warned that they were the most mobile part of the population and would increase the number of cases, and that the current number of cases showed that they were right.

The Union said “The situation is bad,” and noted that the cases in EMU, where the vaccination rate is high, are very few compared to the country and other educational institutions.

EMU-SEN argued that widespread vaccination in all higher education institutions should be a state policy, otherwise cases would increase.

Criticizing the government and the authorities, the Union said, “Our union is watching the progress with concern. Our wish is for the education to continue face to face. However, we are ready to call for a break at the point where the health of our students, civil servants and workers and colleagues is in danger.”
