Man batters wife in Famagusta for making noise while collecting laundry

A Turkmenistan national has been arrested for battering his wife for making noise while collecting laundry in their home in Famagusta.

The man identified only as B.R committed the act on November, 28 and was arrested the same day upon complaint.

He was taken to a court in Famagusta on charges of serious assault. He was released on bail afterwards.

Police officer who testified in court said the suspect deliberately and unlawfully, battered his wife, with whom he lived, with his hands, on the grounds that she was making noise while collecting laundry.

The suspect had in March this year been summoned to the police for a similar offense he committed to his wife, but the incident was not taken forward because his wife did not testify.

The suspect is married and has 2 children, has been under legal status in the TRNC for 7 years.

The suspect accepted the charges and leased on bail.

He was banned from leaving the TRNC in order to ensure his presence in the future trial, to deposit a cash collateral of 3,000 TL and 2 credible TRNC citizens to sign a personal guarantee of 50,000 TL.
