Man detained for giving Cameroonian person French passport to use

A man who helped a Cameroonian national obtained a French passport in the TRNC will be tried in court for impersonation.

The suspect, from Cameroon, identified only as P.C.A, was held at Ercan airport on Tuesday last week when trying to leave the country with a French passport.

He was arrested and taken to court on Friday. 

A second suspect was also arrested and taken to court for the crime of obtaining a false record and impersonating someone else by giving a French passport to a Cameroonian national in Lefkosa.

Police said the suspect voluntarily gave a statement and admitted his guilt.

Speaking in court, the suspect said, “I was staying at his house as a guest, he took my passport and fled. I don't know," he said.
