Mortar shelling dropped in a village in North Cyprus

A mortar shelling (bomb) reportedly fell close to a settlement located in Kalavaç village on Wednesday.

The incident that happened on Wednesday afternoon, caused great panic in the region. There were however, no loss of life or property damage.

Questions have been raised as to how the bomb fell on the settlement. 

According to a resident who lives in the village, the bomb landed about 50 meters from his house

No explanation has been given by the police or the military regarding the incident. It is understood that the village is close to a military shooting area. This highlights the possibility that the bomb may have been dropped during military training.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
