Payment of rents, car purchase and others in foreign currencies should be stopped - TRNC member of parliament

A TRNC member of parliament has raised the need for measures to be taken to stop the paying of rents, purchase of cars and others in foreign currencies.

TDP Deputy, Hüseyin Angolemli made the call in parliament on Monday when deliberating on the 2022 budget. 

Angolemli who noted that rents and real estate sales are in British Pounds and that civil servants and wage earners are paid in Turkish Lira, and that many people have come to the point where they cannot pay their debts to the banks because of the increase in foreign exchange; demanded that the use of foreign currency in house payment, car purchases and rentals be stopped.

Angolemli mentioned that basic foodstuffs are becoming too expensive and that domestic production can help prevent basic foodstuffs from becoming expensive.

Speaking further, he said there are many workers and students in the country of which most of them are starving adding that it's only a while before thefts will begin to occur.

He also expressed that necessary measures should be taken regarding roads and infrastructure in the country in order to prevent traffic accidents.
