Student who tried to enter southern Cyprus with someone else's passport released on bail

A student who tried to enter southern Cyprus with someone else's passport will be tried in court for impersonation.

The suspect identified only as M.K, an African, was identified and arrested on Monday, November, 15 at the Lokmacı crossing point with south Cyprus. Police said he was found with a passport belonging to some else.

He was taken to a court on charges of impersonation.

Police officer who testified in court, said the suspect was a student and that the investigation concerning the incident was completed.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge ordered the suspect to be released on bail pending trial on the condition that he is prohibited from going abroad, report to the police station once a week, deposits the sum of 7,000 TL of cash as collateral, and that a credible TRNC citizen signs a personal surety bond of 100,000 TL.

***How do they expect him to meet such bail conditions...
