TRNC Prime Minister orders gas stations to sell fuel to Turkish Cypriots first before others

TRNC Prime Minister has instructed gas stations in the country to first sell fuel products to Turkish Cypriots before selling to those coming from the south.

Prime Minister, Faiz Sucuoğlu made the call on Saturday during a media chat with state media, BRT. 

According to the Minister, there is an excessive demand for gasoline from the south. 

"Those who come from the south fill their tank and leave, so our own citizens come first." I made a request to the gas stations in the afternoon, they should give petrol to our own citizens first, said Sucuoğlu.

The Minister said, there is a problem in terms of supply, they buy liras of petrol and fill up their tank."

“The priority is our own citizens, we do not have a chance to feed 1 million people in the south,” he added.

According to Sucuoğlu, the problem of fuel scarcity will disappear with the new shipment on Monday.  

Sucuoğlu said, “Whether they give euros or come and take it, my citizen doesn't have any meaning if they can't get it,” adding that attention should be paid for a few more days.
