Face-to-face education will continue in the TRNC as planned- Ministry of Health

The TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture has announced again that education in the country will continue face-to-face as planned, noting that the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases has not made any decision to suspend education.

The statement made by the press office of the Ministry on this issue is as follows:

“Our esteemed parents and important members of our education community and our teachers; Due to the Omicron variant, it is observed that there is an increase in the number of coronavirus cases and contacts throughout our country and in our educational institutions, as is the case all over the world. In this direction, the pandemic measures implemented in our schools have been increased and general screening tests have been started in order to prevent transmission. As we have emphasized many times before, we want all our people to know that the health of our students, teachers, school personnel and parents is our first priority.”

The Ministry of Health's Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases has not made any decision to suspend face-to-face education and to switch to online education.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Head of the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases Assoc. Dr. Düriye Deren Oygar said the decision numbered SAB.0.00-172/02-22/E.75 on face-to-face education sent to our ministry with the signature is as follows:

“Based on your letter of reference, the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases decided to continue face-to-face education in line with the data submitted to it and the recommendations of the Infection Control Committee and other committees. The Committee continues to monitor daily epidemiological data and will continue to inform your Ministry in the coming days in line with these data.”

Reminding once again that we, as the Ministry of National Education and Culture, are obliged to comply and implement the decisions taken by the Communicable Diseases Supreme Committee, we draw attention to the fact that the education process carried out in our schools will continue as planned.”
