Man drove his car into a bar in an attempt to commit homicide, five people were injured, suspect on the run

Turkish Cypriot police are searching for a 38-year-old man who drove a car into a bar in an attempt to commit homicide. 

The incident happened at about 2:45am on Sunday January, 16 at Excalibur Bar operating in Gemikonağı.

The suspect reportedly drove into the bar and injured 5 people after he was forcefully evicted from the bar on the grounds that he had caused an argument.

Police said he is wanted for 'attempted homicide and deliberate damage'.

According to a police statement on the incident, the suspect identified only as G.Ç., who was a customer at the bar was detained by the security guards on the grounds that he had caused an argument and unrest in the bar. He was sent out of the bar but the suspect, who got angry at this, took the crowbar he had illegally kept in his vehicle and tried to enter the bar again. He was again removed from the bar by the security officers. He then got into his vehicle and drove towards the place where the security officers were and attempted to kill the persons in question by ddeliberately crashing his car into the glass door of the bar.

While the persons in question were discharged after their treatment at the hospital, it was reported that another person was taken to Lefkosa Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital with the diagnosis of collarbone fracture.

The police announced that the suspect G.Ç is still being sought and the investigation is continuing.
