Man with two wives assault one of his wife over marriage time table

It seems like a new kind of crime has been added to the number of crimes that can be committed in the TRNC after a man with two wives is accused of assaulting one of them for not sticking to their marriage time table. Weird you may say.

The incident involving serious assault took place in Lefkosa on January, 13, 2022.

The suspect identified as Şemsettin Akgöz, who had determined the times to come together with his fake imam married wife and his officially married wife, who are all staying in the same house had an argument with one of his wife for not complying with his timetable which resulted in him battering his his official wife identified only as N.K. 

He was arrested following the incident and taken to a court on Friday.

Police in its report said the suspect entered a verbal argument with his officially married wife after she confronted him for coming together with his imam married wife before her time had come which goes against the rules they had taken at home.

This resulted in the suspect battering his wife. She was taken to the emergency room of the Lefkosa State Hospital on the same date, and a report was obtained after a doctor's control.

Police stated that the suspect was arrested as per the pending order obtained from the Lefkosa District Court on Friday, January, 14, 2022, and that there were two witness statements regarding the issue. The police said that the investigation initiated against the suspect had been completed and demanded that the suspect be given a suitable guarantee for his future trial.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge ordered the suspect to released on bail pending trial on the condition that he be banned from going abroad, report to the police station once a week, deposit 5,000 TL in cash, and 1 credible TRNC citizen sign a personal surety bond worth 100,000 TL.
