Snow in Southern Cyprus

Snowfall at Troodos square in southern Cyprus reached 8 cm on Sunday.

Citizens rushed to Troodos during the weekend to have a feel of the snow leading to increased traffic. 

Temperatures in the early hours of Sunday went down to minus six and according to the Meteorological Department, a cold front is affecting the area.Weather conditions became clear on Sunday afternoon but there will be increased clouds at times which might give isolated light rain and light snowfall or sleet locally over the mountains.

There will be winds tonight. Temperature will go down to 0 C inland, around 4 C in coastal areas and -7 C on the mountains.

On Monday, the weather will be fine but there will be increased clouds in the afternoon.

The temperature will be 12 C inland, around 13 C in coastal areas and 1C on the mountains.

Temperatures will be much higher in the northern part of the island with sleet expected in the mountains on Sunday.
