TRNC Ministry of Health announces New Covid-19 measures

The Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases has announced the following rules and decisions in line with the latest epidemiological situation in the TRNC.

According to the latest decisions, all primary school pupils are required to undergo a rapid test every seven days. Pupils who choose not to get a rapid test will have to present a negative rapid test from a parent or guardian every 14 days if the parent or guardian is vaccinated or every seven days if the parent/guardian is not vaccinated.

The number of people allowed to attend protests, rallies and similar organisations indoors will be limited to one person per three square meters. Unvaccinated persons will be required to present a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72 hours or a negative rapid test carried out in the last 48 hours to attend such events. Wearing masks at such events is mandatory.

Persons attending dinner or cocktail receptions will be required to present a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72 hours or a negative rapid test carried out in the last 48 hours irrelevant of their vaccination status.

Close vaccinated contacts of persons who test positive for Covid-19 will be required to self-isolate for seven days. Unvaccinated persons who have come into close contact with a person who has tested positive will be required to self-isolate for ten days. Should a close contact develop any symptoms during his/her isolation period, the person will be tested by the contact tracing team.

Contacts, should they not develop any symptoms during their observation period, will be tested on the last day of their isolation periods. Their isolation will end following a negative PCR test result. The isolation period will be extended should the contact test positive.

The vaccination scheme has been updated following the detection of the Omicron variant in the country.
