Young man goes on stealing spree in Lefkosa, even stole a car

A 21-year-old man reportedly stole from a parked car and broke into an apartment in Lefkosa.

The 21-year-old suspect identified as Mohammad Seifi reportedly broke into a house and a car at two different dates in Lefkosa.

He was arrested by the police this week and taken to court on multiple charges.

Police in its statement said at about 10:30pm on December 30, 2021, in Lefkosa, the suspect took a bag containing 7,000 pounds sterling and 255 TL cash, as well as the TRNC passport belonging to the owner of the bag from a parked car in Lefkosa.

Again, on January 6, 2022, at 1:30am, the suspect opened the window of İsmail Can Erbil's house in Lefkosa, stole a vehicle key and took away the rental vehicle.

Following the complaint about the other theft on January 7, the stolen car was detected in a locked condition in a dirty parking lot opposite the Toros Student Dormitory in Taşkınköy, which is the suspect's home.

Police said that during the camera inspection and investigation carried out in this region on the same dates, the suspect who was staying in Toros dormitory, was identified as the person who threw the subject bag and passport to the roadside.  

The suspect's room was searched and during the search, 4,130 pounds, 755 TL cash and the ignition key of the stolen vehicle were found and taken as evidence.  

The police also said that the suspect was arrested on the same day.
