Student caught with drug tried to dispose of it by swallowing some of it

A suspect who was found with drugs in his apartment in Lefkosa and then threw it out of the window has been detained for 6 face.

The suspect identified only as E.C.A, a 29-year-old student in the country was found with drugs on Friday, last week.

Police said it got wind of the suspect dealing in drugs sales and quickly carried out a raid on his apartment. On sighting the police, the suspect threw a black bag down the window of his apartment and reportedly swallowed some to the drugs.

He was arrested and taken to court.

Police told the court that the suspect sold some of the drugs adding that the police was looking for a second person in relation to the incident.

Police also said that during the search conducted in the suspect's residence with a court order, a substance that the suspect showed and believed to be a cannabis type drug weighing about 12 grams was found and taken as a sign. A krasher (grinder) believed to contain drug residues was also found in the suspect's home.

The police demanded that the suspect be kept in detention for 6 days, saying that the drugs in the possession of the suspect were sent for analysis, and that if the suspect is released, it may affect the wanted person, signs and statements to be taken.
