Student caught with fake PCR test at Ercan Airport
A person who reportedly presented a fake PCR test document to immigration at the Ercan Airport in Lefkosa, North Cyprus has been arrested.
The suspect identified as A.A.O while attempting to leave the country via the Ercan Airport, on Monday, January, 31 presented a fake PCR document during immigration procedure which led to her arrest.
She was taken to court on Tuesday on charges of forging an official document and putting same into use.
The suspect told the police that the fake document was made by another person in Nigeria.
Police said the fake PCR test was conducted on November, 28 2021 and the suspect reportedly changed the date on the document so that she can use it with the intent to defraud. A second suspect, who is the suspects boyfriend was arrested too.
Police said an investigation carried out on the second suspect revealed that their friend in Nigeria faked the PCR test due to her flight time approaching and sent it to her via whatsapp.
The police stated that the investigation has just started and there are statements that need to be taken, and demanded that the suspects be detained for 3 days.
