Turkey's police arrest 3 people in Istanbul as part of investigation into the murder of Turkish Cypriot businessman Falyalı

Three people suspected to be connected to the murder of Turkish Cypriot businessman Halil Falyalı were arrested and detained in Istanbul on Wednesday as part of the joint investigation being carried out by the TRNC police and Turkey.

Falyalı and his driver were gunned down in Girne on Tuesday night by unknown assailants.

The General Directorate of Police in Turkey in a statement issued on Wednesday said that three suspects had been taken in for questioning in Istanbul.

One of those arrested was identified as the leader of the notorious criminal organization and his two men were taken into custody in Istanbul on Feb. 9 for their alleged involvement in the murder. 

Also, earlier on Wednesday, two suspects, who were believed to be indirectly related to the murder, were detained at Ercan Airport while they were heading to Turkey.

Another suspect was arrested by police in the TRNC on Wednesday morning and is currently in police custody until the investigation is completed.

Meanwhile, the funeral for the Halil Falyalı will be held in his home village of Kumyalı today.
