25-year-old man was killed in fatal accident on the Famagusta-Lefkosa highway

A 25-year-old man was killed in an accident involving two vehicles on the Famagusta-Lefkosa highway on Wednesday.

The unfortunate incident happened at around 12:00pm Güvercinlik junction on the Famagusta-Lefkosa highway on Wednesday.

According to police statement, the accident happened due to the carelessness of a 32-year-old driver who lost control of the truck he was driving while heading to Lefkosa from Famagusta and in the process he hit the center road barrier and then entered the opposite lane. He crashed the truck into a ice-cold truck vehicle driven by Shohrat Annnanurov and heading towards Famagusta.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital for treatment but Shohrat Annnanurov, 25 who was seriously injured in the accident died from his injuries. 

A total of 4 people have lost their lives in 4 fatal accidents that occurred in 2022. 

2 of these accidents occurred in Famagusta, 1 in Güzelyurt and 1 in Lefkosa.
