Association to boycott some food produce

The President of the TRNC Consumers Association Hasan, Yılmaz Işık has announced that the association will initiate a "boycott" in order to bring down the prices of vegetables, meat and milk.

Işık called for all consumers to comply with the "boycott" that the association will initiate from April 1 to April 7, primarily on vegetable products, and to stop the consumption of vegetable products.

Stating that the “price anarchy” made consumers revolt, Işık warned the Ministry of Economy to implement market control and import policies without hesitation. 

Işık invited all political parties in power and opposition to cooperate in order to take necessary measures urgently instead of making policy in this extraordinary situation.

Işık said, “In the free market system, where governments do not interfere, our association considers it necessary for the consumers to intervene in the prices determined by the competition in the supply and demand environment.”
