Power cut to continue across the TRNC on Saturday

Power cut across the TRNC will continue on Saturday, the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority, Kib-Tek has announced.

According to Kib-Tek, the power cut is due to the failure in Teknecik Power Plant and AKSA power plant as there is a production shortage of 70 megawatts, therefore, alternate cuts will be made throughout the country until the faults are resolved.

Electricity Authority Director, Gürcan Erdoğan in a statement, said "One of the 60 megawatts thermal power plant in Teknecik was out of order due to a malfunction, one of the eight diesel generators in Teknecik is in maintenance and two are out of order. He also stated that two machines in the AKSA power plant were faulty.

He noted that there is a lack of production of 70 megawatts across the country due to the faults, and that the desired efficiency cannot be obtained from the solar energy panels due to the cloudy weather.

“Therefore, alternating cuts will be made throughout the country until the fault is resolved. Repair work has started and is expected to last all day," he said.
