Unions in TRNC plans mas rally and strike action on Wednesday and Friday

Unions in the TRNC has criticized the government's "hike policy" as it plans to set up a tent in front of the Prime Ministry on Wednesday, go on a general strike across the country on Friday, and hold rallies across the country.

The unions, KTAMS, KAMUSEN, KTÖS, KTOEÖS, HAK-SEN, GÜÇ-SEN, KOOP-SEN, TÜRK-SEN, VERGİ-SEN, BES, unions affiliated with DEV İŞ, unions affiliated with HÜR-İŞ, and -SEN and ADA-SEN came together on Monday  and stated that the government did not even respond to the demands 'for the protection of the purchasing power of the people in the face of the price hike policy that drags the workers, retirees, low and fixed income people into poverty', and announced their action program.

Here is their statement:

“In the face of the policy of the UBP-DP-YDP Government, which drags the employees, retirees, low-income and fixed-income people into poverty, the Prime Minister did not even respond to the demands and resource proposals put forward by our unions to protect the purchasing power of the people, while the hikes continued to increase.

Our unions, which came together today, decided to set up a tent for a raise in front of the Prime Ministry on Wednesday, March 30 at 18:00, and to organize a nationwide general strike and rally on Friday, April 1, by organizing the support of non-governmental organizations and the public until Friday.

We announce to the public that if the government continues to maintain its anti-labor stance, our strikes and actions will increasingly continue.”
