Five people caught trying to enter south Cyprus illegally

Four foreigners and a Turkish citizen will be detained for at least two days pending trial for trying to enter south Cyprus illegally.

The five suspects identified only as, B.A, D.M, M.F, W.G and M.K were identified and arrested at about 11:20pm on Tuesday at the Kırklar round-about close to Ercan Airport while trying to cross to the south illegally.

Four of them were taken to court on Wednesday.

Police officer who testified in court, said the suspects were identified in the vehicle used by one of the suspects, identified as B.A., during an operation carried out by the Directorate of Narcotics and Smuggling in the area. 

Police stated that they agreed to help the suspects cross to the south for 120 Euros in total, and that the suspect M.K agreed to cross to the south for 350 Euros per person.
