TRNC government reduces electricity bill for March, reduces alcohol prices

The new Government which was formed on Monday held its first Cabinet meeting on Tuesday where it approved the reduction in electricity bill for the month of March and alcoholic beverages funds.

Making a statement after the first Council of Ministers meeting of the 39th Government, the Spokesperson of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, stated that urgent issues to be discussed in the Parliament in the coming period are being evaluated.

Pointing to the regulations regarding electricity tariffs and alcoholic beverage funds, which were announced to be introduced during the previous Government period, Nazım Çavuşoğlu stated that these regulations were unanimously passed by the Council of Ministers today.

Çavuşoğlu announced that the tariffs applied in the March period were regulated for 1 month with the Regulation that came into effect on February 17.

Stating that the arrangement was made for MARCH 2022, Çavuşoğlu noted that the relevant minister was instructed to switch to multiple electricity tariffs in May.

Fund reduction in alcoholic beverages…

Stating that a decision was taken regarding the fund prices in alcoholic beverages, Çavuşoğlu explained that the regulation in the fund prices was also regulated by a motion.

It was noted that the funding decisions put into effect during the previous government period were not completely abolished. Accordingly, the funds put into beer were increased from 3 TL to 15 TL, the funds put into wine were increased from 4 TL to 20 TL, and the funds put into whiskey/raki were increased from 13 TL to 50 TL. In the last decisions taken, while the funds were not completely removed, they were rearranged and reduced.

According to this; The fund for beer, which was 15 TL per liter, was reduced to 5 TL. The fund, which was 20 TL per liter of wine, was reduced to 5 TL. For whiskey and raki, the fund, which was 50 TL per liter, was reduced to 25 TL.
