Gas scarcity in north Cyprus as prices expected to increase

The price of domestic gas product in the TRNC is expected to increase in the coming days due to scarcity of the product.

The scarcity is due to the delay in the arrival of the ship bringing gas to the country.

Some gas dealers, who stated that they could not buy gas for a week, stated that they were victims due to the 'expectation of a raise', while it was learned that the gas stock in Koop-Gaz ran out, and only the legal stocks for the soldiers and hospitals remained.

Speaking to YENİDÜZEN, Agricultural Equipment Cooperative Subsidiaries Coordinator, business person Orhan Kürşat stated that they have not been able to get gas since Friday.

Kürşat said, “There is no gas in our gas suppliers, K-PET and ALPET, we have not been able to buy it since Friday, their ships have not arrived. We kept the legal stock that we had to reserve for the military and hospitals, we don't have gas for the market at the moment. The ship has not yet arrived, it was said that it will arrive on Tuesday, but it has not come again, we are waiting,” he said.

On the other hand, information obtained from some reliable sources; It has been learned that the ship will come to the island on May 30 for gas supply. It was stated that if the bottled gas prices are not met by the Price Stabilization Fund, they will be offered to the market at increased prices.
