Greek Cypriot police said it found new migrant routes

Greek Cypriot authority said it has found new routes used by various networks, facilitating the passage of migrants from north Cyprus via the Green Line into south Cyprus.

According to report, a police patrol on Tuesday saw some Afghan migrants and chased after them but managed to arrest two out of five of them. 

According to information, the policemen said they found a rented vehicle at Larnacos Avenue in Aglandjia with five passengers. When the policemen asked the driver to stop he quickly escaped. At some point the vehicle was found again and when the passengers saw the policemen they abandoned the vehicle and started running, following which two of them were arrested.

The two Afghanis, 27 and 24, said they came to the north through Turkey and crossed into the south through the Green Line. They said they are seekers of political asylum.

The Police have remanded the two in custody while the other three are being sought.
