Man rapes 16-year-old distant relative in Girne

A man who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl, who is a distant relative will face trial in court.

The suspect identified only as R.K reportedly committed the crime of rape in, Girne, TRNC.

He was arrested on Friday and taken to court on charges of rape and underage child abuse.

A Forensic police officer in its court statement, said the victim covered up the incident because she was afraid of her family but later told what she had experienced

Police said the suspect according to the victim, took her home, took photos when they were together and sent them to his friend.

Police noted that the child was examined and the cell phone belonging to the suspect was taken as evidence, and statements were taken from 7 people. 

The suspect was sent to jail for a period of not more than 7 days for the sake of the investigation.
