Student in court for using his resident for the purpose of prostitution in Lefkosa

The people will face trial in court after they were arrested in connection with a prostitution issue in Lefkosa.

The suspect, identified only as R.E,.B, a student in the TRNC was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police at the weekend in Lefkosa for allowing two women stay in his apartment and use it the same to commit prostitution.

He was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Sunday on charges of “Prostitution, Allowing Prostitution in the Building under His Control, and Encouraging Prostitution”.

Police in a statement in court, said the suspect encouraged prostitution in return for money by allowing the two residents of his apartment, identified only as G.L.S and M.M.U to engage in prostitution in the apartment under his control between the period of February and May 2022.

Police said there were camera footage in the apartment that needed to be examined.

Police stated that the suspect was arrested in pursuant to a pending warrant, and that two books showing the profits obtained from prostitution and 12,500 TL and 50 dollars in cash, which are believed to be prostitution revenues, were taken as evidence. 

The suspect was ordered by the court to be remain in detention for a period of three days so that more investigation can be carried out on the matter without his interference.
