TRNC opposition parties boycott new government in parliament

A meeting of the TRNC General Assembly debate on the government programme of the National Unity Party (UBP), Democrat Party (DP) and Rebirth Party (YDP) coalition formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel held on Monday, May, 16 was boycotted by opposition parties.

The meeting which was convened to discuss the programme of the newly-formed coalition government was boycotted by the main opposition party, the CTP and HP.

No deputies spoke at the meeting, which began at 11.10 following a delay of 1 hour and 10 minutes.

The government’s vote of confidence will be held on Wednesday, May 18, a day after the completion of the debate on the government program.

The Council of Ministers of the UBP-DP-YDP coalition government formed under Prime Minister Ünal Üstel was approved by President Ersin Tatar and then read out at the parliament last Friday.
