TRNC president, Ersin Tatar awarded as ‘most successful politician’

TRNC president, Ersin Tatar has been bestowed with “The Most Successful Statesman of the year” award by the GAP journalist union in Malatya, Turkey.

Receiving the award at the 15th ‘GAP Oscars’, Tatar who supports a two state solution in Cyprus, reiterated that since his election as president of the TRNC, the policy being pursued is that an agreement to the Cyprus solution is only possible through the cooperation of two sovereign and equal states which live side by side.

“I want to emphasize how meaningful it is to maintain our existence freely on this island and protect our rights and interests as part of the Blue Homeland doctrine,” he said.

That policy, he said, is fully supported by Turkey.

Tatar once again argued that a federal solution to the Cyprus problem would place the Turkish Cypriots in danger, as it would be a state encompassed within the EU and the Turkish army would withdraw from the island – gravely endangering the Turkish Cypriot community.

Tatar added that he was grateful for pursuing his political career in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“This is a great honour and pride for me. Now I have the opportunity to protect both the TRNC’s and the Republic of Turkiye’s rights, laws and interests at all international platforms. I am honored for being able to respond to claims, initiatives and statements whether it be from the EU or the US, making sure that we maintain our just cause in the area of foreign policy, serving Turkish interests,” he said.
