Two held for impersonation at border crossing with south Cyprus

Two men who tried to enter south Cyprus from north Cyprus will face trial in court for using passports that are not their own.

The two men identified only as İ.T., and M.D, one of them a Turkish citizen and a third person believed to be connected to the incident identified only as D.S were attempting to enter the south of Cyprus from the Lokmacı crossing point in Lefkosa at about 11:20am on Sunday, May, 1 when they were found to be in possession of documents that are not theirs.

The suspects were arrested and taken to court on charges of "Forged Official Documentation, Circulation, and Attempting to Obtain a Registration with False Behavior."

Police said the suspects who came to cross south and were in the north as tourists, were detected and arrested while they were trying to take action by submitting passports that were not in their names to the immigration officer and putting them into use.   

The suspects were detained on court orders for 3 days for investigation purposes.
