Two people fined 1,750TL for operating in illegal transportation in Lefkosa

Two people suspected of operating in illegal transportation in Lefkosa were held by the police and fined 1,750TL each.

Police in a statement on Friday, said the Lefkosa Police Department, Traffic teams identified two people involved in illegal taxi business. 

They were fined 20 points and 1,750 TL each.

Police said one of the suspect was caught and punished by the police before for illegal transportation. 

The police had in the last few days stepped up its fight against illegal transportation in the TRNC. 

The taxi association complained that they were having a hard time due to the pandemic and also affected by the activities of illegal taxi operators.

***We hope innocent people are not being harassed. Taxi drivers should also do better in their fares and human relation especially with foreigners. On a daily basis, there are complains of Turkish taxi drivers assaulting, insulting and attacking foreigners who solicited for their service. Some of them even run away with passengers money and belongings. This has to stop.
