UBP forms new TRNC government

The ruling party in Northern Cyprus, UBP has formed a new government that does not include the chairman of the party, and former Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu, who resigned from his position twice in less than 70 days due to disagreement with a party member and coalition partners.

Minister of Interior, Ünal Üstel was given the task to formed a new government by president Ersin Tatar on Monday and following a discussion with former coalition partners, the DP and the YDP, on Thursday, a new government was formed.

Ünal Üstel, a deputy of the UBP met with with DP Chairman Fikri Ataoğlu and YDP Chairman Erhan Arıklı on Thursday before announcing the new government on the same day.

Former Minister of Fiance, Sunat Atun who was excluded in the previous government by Faiz Sucuoğlu was restored to his position replacing Olgun Amcaoğlu while İzm Gürçağ a female deputy from the UBP was named in the new cabinet.

Other notable name left out of the cabinet is Minister of Health, Ali Pilli who was replace by İzm Gürçağ.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Agriculture, Dursun Oğuz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Environment, Culture and Youth Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, Minister of Labor and Social Security Hasan Taçoy and Minister of Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu all retained their place in the new cabinet.
