62-year-old man die in road accident in Haspolat

A 62-year-old man died in an accident that happened on the Lefkosa-Famagusta high way on Saturday morning after he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the road.

The accident occurred in Haspolat around 7:30am on Saturday when 19-year-old Aktan Naim Yıltan Birkaya crashed his car intp 62-year-old Hakkı Afşin, who was trying to cross the road on foot.

Afşin died at the scene. Police said the accident happened as a result of the carelessness of the driver.

The driver of the vehicle, Aktan Naim Yıltan Birkaya, was arrested.
