Two young students caught with drugs with a market value of 2.5 million Turkish liras

Two young African students are currently in court facing trial for their role in drug sales.

The two young women were identified and arrested by Narcotic Teams in an operation tagged "earthquake" carried out in Semih Sancar Street, Girne on Thursday, June, 9.

Police said a total of 3.5 kilograms of narcotic drugs with a market value of 2.5 million Turkish liras were seized.

Police said 40 grams of cannabis-type narcotic drugs ready for sale were also seized in their waist bags during the search on the suspects.

The vehicle belonging to one of the suspect which was found at the scene, was also searched, and another 10 grams of jute cannabis was found in a Lous Voitton brand bag, ready for sale.

Police said a search was carried out in a residence where the suspects were staying, and that nothing illegal was found in the 21st flat, only a house key was found.

One of the suspect said that the key found belonged to apartment number 25 across the street. Police said a search was carried out in the apartment number 25, and a total of 3 kilos and 520 grams of cannabis type drugs, ready for sale in various parts of the house, a precision scale with drug residues on it, foil paper used in the packaging of drugs, scissors and gloves were seized. 

Police said the suspects also have 2 account books related to the large amount of money obtained from the sale of drugs.

Police said the seized drugs will be sent for analysis and fingerprint examination will be made on drug packages, and an investigation will be carried out to identify the people who bought the drugs.

Police said the amount of drug found with them is the highest amount seized in Kyrenia recently.

The suspects were detained for a period of three days for more investigation.
