Foreigner who gave fake urine sample sentenced to 3 months in prison

A student has been sentenced to 3 months in prison by Turkish Cypriot authorities for giving fake urine samples.

The accused, identified only as A.T, a Nigerian was sentenced to 3 months in prison by a Lefkosa court on Thursday.

The accused was arrested on February 25, 2022 after 2 grams of cannabis type drugs was found in his possession.

The accused who was arrested for similar crime in March, 2021, was the right to probation (release of an offender from detention, subject to a period of good behaviour under supervision) violated the probation rules again. 

He was taken a court in Lefkosa on charges of drug use and possession and asked to produce his urine for test, but produced a fake urine sample.

Delivering judgement, the Court President and Senior Judges made the decision unanimously to sentence him to 3 months in prison.

The clerk stated that crimes related to drug use are grave and serious crimes, and that a decision should be made to ensure the public interest.

The clerk announced that he was sentenced to 3 months in prison after evaluating all the situations in favor and against the accused.
