Man kidnaps fellow worker over debt

A man has been arrested and detained for for abducting a fellow in north Cyprus.

The suspect identified only as R.R, 31, committed the crime on Friday, July, 8 but the matter was reported to the police on Sunday, July, 10.

He was arrested on Sunday and taken to court on charges of Forced Abduction and Threat of Violence.

Police officer who testified in court stated that the suspect who resides in the lodge of a workplace at about 1:00pm on Friday, July, 8 with the help of another suspect who is at large, abducted a 52-year-old man from Bangladesh who both work and stay together. 

The suspect forcefully took the victim by the hands and forced him into a vehicle and took him to a detached house in Minareliköy. Police said they are yet to identified the location of the house. 

According to police statement, the suspect and the victim had a debt issue between them.

Police said the suspect told the victim he abducted, "I will take 16.000 TL from you, but I will take 32.000 TL from you.

The suspect was detained for 3 days for more investigations to be carried out on the matter.
